What is an Upgrade Item in World of Warcraft?

Components
In the field of computer technology an upgrade is the replacement of software or hardware with a version that includes new functions or features. The purpose of upgrades is to make a system more efficient, more reliable or capable of handling greater amounts of data. Hardware upgrades can include storage devices like hard disk processors, drives, and motherboards. Upgrades to computers should always be compatible with specifications of the computer being upgraded.
In Guild Wars 2, upgrade items can be slotted into armor, weapons or trinkets in order to provide an attribute bonus or additional effects while the equipment is used. To accept a component an item must be in a slot for an upgrade and be at a certain level.
Components are available for purchase from vendors in Night City, obtained by disassembling items that do not work or being found out in the world. Components can be purchased from vendors, even when the item isn't suitable for the level at which it is sold.
Various types of components exist that have universal upgrades (such as gemstones) able to be placed in all equipment and providing lesser bonuses than those which are type-restricted. Jewels are only available in trinkets. They also offer greater bonus than any other upgrade.
Inscriptions are special upgrade items which can only be placed inside a trinket. They can be used to increase the experience multiplier. These are excellent for maximizing a character, as they're fairly inexpensive to purchase but they're not able to be combined with other experience modifiers.
Infusions can be incorporated into armor that is non-ascended and legendaries and also to certain non-legendary items. You can recover them by using the tool to extract them or salvaging with the Ascended Rescue Tool. It is important to remember that upgrading an item using infusions will result in the item being given a the unique name. For example the addition of an infusion of Rune of Minor Vigor to an Tyrian Armor will cause it to display the name "Radiant Tyrian Armor." In the hover display the inscription will be displayed as an Inscribed weapon.
Glyphs
Glyphs are items that improve the specific substatus of a piece of equipment. They can be found in a variety of places, but the most common is the completion of Nightmare Dungeons or Helltides. You can also find them by visiting the Faction Crypts. Glyphs in the crypts will only be available to certain classes, so be sure to claim only ones that will work for your character. You can purchase your Glyphs at the Glyph Altar in Teleria. This altar will increase your magical item upgrades's value by a certain amount depending on the Glyph that you are using.
Generally, the glyphs you can choose from will provide a boost to your primary stat, but some will have other effects such as increasing healing, damage or resistance. Glyphs can be a great method to upgrade your gear, but they are difficult to obtain and use. Regularly updating your glyphs will ensure that you get the most benefit from them. Glyphs that are upgraded will be shown as the upgraded version in your inventory.
Some items dropped come with a default glyph which will automatically change when you upgrade the item. This only is applicable to the original enchantment not the glyph that was created manually on the item. Glyphs that automatically upgraded will always be higher rank than the glyph you created manually on the item upgrading.
Glyphs play a vital role of the crafting system. You can use them to transform a prefix on belts, gloves or boots into an experimental affix. Glyphs of Insight can be difficult to obtain, though due to the RNG component of their creation could cause them to be unavailable when you need them. To help players, we've created a Glyph of Insight crafting spreadsheet to aid.
A few tips to make Glyphs faster include choosing shorter, less difficult dungeons such as Witchwater. The dungeon is linear, making it simpler to navigate and defeat enemies. It is also recommended to drink potions for health between dungeons to speed up the process.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of replacing an upgrade item with another similar type. This alters its extra stats, but doesn't change the item level or a unit's attachment slot. The cost of the item upgrader mod is determined by its rarity and level. This can be done with weapons, armors and rings.
Upgrade items are accessories that are used to increase the stats of units in Guild Wars 2. They are available in a wide variety and can improve a variety of attributes. The upgrades improve the physical power, spell power, and the health of armors, weapons, and rings. The upgrades also add other capabilities to the unit. The player is able to use a specific item upgrader by placing it on the portrait of the unit.
Recycling items will fill a progress bar, increasing the value of upgrades for an item. Recycling up to six items at once is possible, and the points earned for recycling increase depending on the rarity and value of the item. The upgrade is random and cannot be guaranteed.
Rerolling or not rerolling is contingent on the player's preferences. Some players reroll to ensure they have a stable set of characters that will carry through the game. Others may decide to not reroll because they prefer to play with their preferred character no regardless of how powerful it may be.
Rerolling can be costly and requires a lot of effort, so you should carefully weigh the advantages and disadvantages. Ask other players for suggestions if you are unsure which rerolling method to use.
Being consistent and accumulating a large number of tokens will increase your chances of receiving high-quality Rerolls. This will ensure that you have enough tokens to replace your upgrade items if needed. You can also increase your reroll chances by playing the game at the highest difficulty. If you're struggling to find an upgrade item that you can afford try playing the game on the hardest or even the most difficult difficulty settings.
Sets
When an upgrade is placed on a set or unique item, a bonus is given to that set. The bonuses may differ based on the upgrade type. When an upgrade is placed on the guardian set or ring, it'll give a bonus to def, whereas an upgrade to a weapon will increase the damage aoe suffers.
Upgrade items can be beneficial, however their effects aren't always the best. For example, a high dps breakpoint item may not benefit in the same way from an upgrade in the event that there's a flawless or nearly perfect non-upgraded version that is the identical item (whistan's shield for FB sorcs springs to mind). Likewise, an item that provides value due to its unique affixes may be extremely useful in its unupgraded form (goldwrap is a fantastic option for casting dps).
