Why Pushchair Is Your Next Big Obsession
Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
You need a double stroller in order to take your twins from one place to B. Our range includes a range of twin pram cheap prams as well as double buggies that come in a variety of configurations to meet your family's needs.
Choose a stroller which can fold in one step, and easily put into your boot. You could also opt for a lightweight design, especially if you're tackling busy high streets.
Side-by-Side
These are the most common type of double folding pushchair that usually can accommodate two children in a row. They tend to be larger than single pushchairs. This can make them less agile on paths. It can also be difficult to maneuver between kerbs when a car seat is attached. However the extra width does mean that they're usually easier to navigate through doors and are more evenly distributed making them easier to carry on your back.
They can be used as a twin pram from birth and many models can be used with a carrycot or two car seats. Some models can be converted into one-mode with a basket on the side (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a perfect illustration of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat next to a carrycot. This creates a totally enclosed space for twins, and is perfect for babies. This pram comes with some very cool accessories, like the newborn cocoons, which can be put on either parent facing pram toward the forward direction or in any direction (for twin-facing prams). It's not as lightweight as other options, but it's extremely well-thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for innovation, and this single-to-double pushchair is no exception. The clever frame can be expanded to accommodate two seats, and you can use it as a twin right from birth by incorporating the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for infants. The large basket of shopping behind the seat can be used in mono mode with just one child. It also has a rear and front suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces a little more easily. The top choice from our reviewers.
Available in a variety stylish colors.
Tandem
If you're planning to have twins, you want a pushchair that can allow the children to sit close to each other, so they can see each one another. These are great for things such as visiting the zoo since the children will be able to look at all the animals together. These are also great for parents who wish to keep an eye on both their toddler and their baby at the same time.
Some tandem pushchairs offer extreme flexibility since they can be converted back to single mode. This is particularly useful when you're planning to have more than two kids (or just your eldest doesn't need a buggy anymore). This means you won't have an empty pushchair travel system to store away which can be expensive.
For example for instance, the Cybex Venus can be used in mono or double mode and has a smart frame that can be expanded to accommodate an extra seat. This isn't the heaviest of pushchairs, however it comes with a large shopping basket that is placed behind the front seat in double mode (and at the back of the seat when it's mono mode). The seats can be set so that they face each other, or one can be positioned higher up so it can look at the other and see what they're doing.
Some double tandem pushchairs such as the Joolz Geo 3, are able to seat one above the other or side by side. The compact, sleek frame makes it easy to maneuver through doorways and supermarket aisles. Some models can be used on uneven terrain or for a jogging walk thanks to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
Another benefit of a tandem pushchair is that it will often take two carrycots, or a car seat and a buggy seat. This allows you to create a travel system from the outset and save money on separate purchases. It is important to remember that tandems are heavier and longer than single pushchairs and are less stable when bumping up kerbs or going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs must also be dismantled to fit in cars.
