5 Lessons You Can Learn From Three Wheeled Buggies
Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily even in tight areas.
If you are looking for a smooth ride on your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie - a symbol of the noughties of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, while also looking swanky and being easy to push.
The rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy ground and rough pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back also makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 year old and found that it coped well with cobbles, grass, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflated and require to be pumped regularly, have built-in suspension. This was very comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to think about. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for a parent facing one.
An excellent option for taking on off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers until age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness and large cushioned seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket, zip pockets on the hood and an attractive pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with larger diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. Additionally, they make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with rotating wheels on the front, which help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is also helpful if you bump into the roots of a tree or stray road, as the front wheel will lift up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchair wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres which allow them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will need to have a repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3 wheel baby strollers-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which she claims "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily move up and down kerbs. The buggies also come with suspensions that, according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide and may struggle to fit in tight spaces. This is a problem especially if you're using it to a jogger or to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to manoeuvre
One of the major advantages to a three-wheeled buggy is that it can be much easier to maneuver, especially with a child in the back. They are designed so that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for terrains that are difficult, such as parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheel double stroller wheeler with her infant and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain with the swivel rear wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven ground."
The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel jogger stroller wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of when your home is an urban area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better option for you.

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also appreciated the space of the buggy. There's a huge, easily accessible basket that's huge for a buggy this small, plus there's a handy zipped pouch on the back of the seat and even 2 smaller mesh pockets in the hood to keep your phone and keys.
