WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players from item upgrading upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item upgrader kit slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader mod upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even if they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade items path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
