World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the level of the item.

On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of an item's level is carried out. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item upgrading.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, since the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is thus more valuable in early game runs as opposed to later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item upgrader mod up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item upgrading has a base success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
