This isn't practical to implement due to the complexity of the process of comparing. There's not enough space to do it properly within the UI.

A script that checks the requirements for upgrading an item prior to allowing the item to be upgraded is another solution. This approach is best for systems that have a relatively small number of upgradeable items and a few upgrade dependencies. One example is a sword that can be upgraded from Sword +1 to Sword +2. A script could search for the Item Definition attribute of each upgrade, and change the Item Status to "upgraded" to show that the upgrade was valid.

This method is more flexible, but it requires some extra code. It is not suited for complex systems.

While increasing stats is the primary goal of upgrading items, you should consider the costs associated with upgrading an item prior to making a decision. Upgrade your gear as soon you can, as upgrades get more expensive over time. If you can't afford the cost of upgrading, it may be best to hold off.
