How to Replace an audi key replacement cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated at the edge of transmission over the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing can be a bit difficult since there are two pins for the connector and they have different functions but the most effective method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read around 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this component, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, cost of audi key replacement while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had massive power loss like the engine is out of gas or injectors are not firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine with no sparks, the three with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, but i believe that i've ruled out everything else. However, i'm afraid that I may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or from a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines must know the position and speed of the crankshaft to determine fuel injector timing, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these sensors go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

The signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you experience any of these problems, it is likely your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. They are cheap and easy-to-find, especially if they're an Bosch sensor like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this component is an option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many problems in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your Audi tt key replacement since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the engine of the car is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and Key for Audi other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU is then able to process this signal to regulate fuel, timig, and boost, and also sends it on to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. There should be the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a common part across the key audi 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
